A Little History
This 20.8-acre site, which is only eight feet above sea level at its lowest point, was originally commonly known as Big Hole Park and the Rock Pit. The park became a center of athletic and recreational activity after the Broward County Commission leased it in 1963 to the Southwest Athletic Association, a nonprofit volunteer group. The park took its current name from its Sun-View Recreation Building, which was named for the two Little League groups that used the park, Sunset Little League and Broadview Park Little League. The original structure was destroyed by a fire in 2010 and replaced with the current modular building. -
